Newest
I think it all depends on if everyone--the development team and the members in the forum work together. I see a great future for the script. I feel bad every time when I see a harsh comment to the development team. Every one has to understand that we are ALL NEW. We are learning, which including the development team as well as the forum members. As I have my own shop, I will not be happy if someone out of the blue dot just come to my shop and tell me that "your products suck, ABC shop is better than your, you lack of product A, B, and C as other shops have these and you don't have no good customers service because you don't answer complain emails." Well, How in the world I can work my best if I only hear this kind of comments everyday? How should I react? If my customers tell me how happy they feel about my products and then give me a list and tell me nicely that "hey, these products are needed. Do you think if you can get these for us?" Well, I will be very motivated to get that for them as I know I am appreciated. I believe it works the same for the development of this script. Developing a script is not an easy task. The development team needs encouragement, not just harsh comments. Let's work together to bring a better future tomorrow.
Dave Egerton
As someone familiar with various eCommerce solutions, including Prestshop and Magento, my take isI hear people talk about Magento a lot and Magento is superb and particularly suitable for medium to larger shops. But it has a high learning curve and building shops takes longer so its costs more, and its too slow on cheaper shared hosting - but it is a great solution for many.In the small to medium shops, Prestashop has the opportunity to come out on top for sure. In this space there are very few open source products that are as good as Prestashop (although Prestashop needs work of course to become fully bug free and robust) I think Prestashop see their opportunities and are working as fast as they can to develop the software, fix bugs and make it a brilliant solution. Overall, the awareness and number of people getting involved is growing all the time and I think Prestshop will continue to get stronger and stronger - What are the real "open source"alternatives that can offer the same flexibility and web2 features whilst being easy to learn, have a small footprint and an easy method (via modules and themes) to expand the software. Bleep
I think once Prestashop gets functioning modules for USPS, UPS, and FedEx, as well as an option to display the US format for addresses and such on invoices and the checkout process, it will take off even more in the USA. Also, if the checkout process could be simplified, and by that i mean, checking out with less pages, or doing it quickly all on one, it will really blast into the market. I love prestashop!
