MEG Venture
Hi I am a current customer of webhosting hub and I host my two Prestashop installations on a shared server purchased from them. Until today, I haven't experienced anything bad with them, however recently I received three account suspension notice in a row. When I asked the reason to the system Administrators, I got the answer that my CPU usage had been severely increased and started to disturb other users in the shared server. What I did different in near past: - I added two Prestashop websites with almost 4,000 products in each, - Therefore, I imported products, regenerated thumbnails, built search index, layered product index, setup monthly cron jobs to both, and such installation things.. - Nothing extra... Webhostinghub suggests me to use a VPS server or a dedicated hosting, but I can't afford it. Can you give me alternative hosting solutions for my case? I need to host more than one prestashop installations. Best regards, Caglar
bellini13
find another shared hosting plan that will provide more resource allowances.
Kamel Boukhateb
Hello, I don't think adding 2 prestashop increases that much the CPU usage. However, using cron tasks on scripts might. You should ask your hosting the exact cause which is their job to provide. A script might be running and never ending because it can't end or because it's a infinite circle. They shouldn't just cut your hosting and not perfectly explain it so you might find a solution. Nowadays, dedicated servers aren't that expensive. You can find good ones for 15€/month. However you have the technical job with it
MahmutGulerce
Hi: Firstly, a VPS can never compile a software faster than its own server. It is imposible to use a VPS that limited 100% CPU due to virtualization software also uses same CPU. Specially, softwares as Prestashop use more and more CPU and need more memory. So I can type that: A shared hosting plan on a physical dedicated server is better than VPS. (except for cloud hosting) Dedicated server is best choice but means more cost. A shared hosting plan in a dedicated server (with integrated services) has nearly same performance. You can simply split any performance problem to 3 sub issue for a standard web server. These ara Compiler, Network and Sub services (mysqld, mta e.t.c). A Prestashop site with no product must be compiled in <= 0.4ms. Otherhand, if you have 4000 products, and while homepage browsing, prestashop executes max 200 more mysql queries. So your home page has 12 products, 10-50 categories, a few modules e.t.c. It is not too difficult to configure any web server for Prestashop. I can help after you select a hosting solution. Good luck.
MEG Venture
@Kamel, Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, that is what they do. And I don't have anything to do except obeying their rules. Are there any hosting services you could suggest without a resource limit? In webhostinghub I can import 4000 products at once. This is the most important feature I am looking for. MEG Venture
@MahmutGulerce Thanks for this useful help, but your technical information provided is beyond my understanding. I guess in summary, you suggest a shared hosting plan on a dedicated server (with integrated services). Can you give me an example service provider (hosting solution) who could do that? Regards, Caglar
MahmutGulerce
@caglar I can type here hosting company names but recomend non cloud linux hosting plans. A shared hosting account usually can use whole server limits for compiler and DB service. Due to all services (mysql, mail, compiler as apache) is integrated and can be connected by localhost. Otherhand max limit is also related with server features. So ask features of server that your files will be hosted.
