saynernz
Hi there, I'm trying on behalf of my client to move them from osCommerce to Prestashop, from their old hosting server to our own one. I thought that I could use the default migration module for this, but after I put in the osCommerce database details (not using "localhost", am using actual server address) it tells me the following and lets me go no further: Specific Options Please select a default language Please select a default currency Please set your shop url Link to database cannot be established. I've checked, and I do have a default language and currency, and the shop URL is set. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't fancy having to bring their products and content across manually.. saynernz
Still needing some help here. Has it something to do with the prestashop and the oscommerce installations being on two different servers? Is it something else?
Dh42
Very well could be. Make it easier on yourself and dump the db, and reload it to a db on the new server. Then try to import from that db.
saynernz
Awesome, that worked! Thank you DesignHaus42. But now I'm having another problem which I can't seem to fix. Everything seemed to migrate over properly except for Categories and Attributes. For categories, it said everything transferred over properly when when I go into the Catalog section, I don't see any subcategories for the Home category and the products are all listed in the Home category. There are close to 500 products and I do not think there is scope in our timeframe for me to sit here and set all this up manually. Is there anything anyone can suggest that will help?? Also, as for Attributes, I had a warning appear while the migration was performing its test. The warning told me that Attribute ID 108 needed a name in English? I'd had similar issues with the Customers and Addresses, and managed to fix them up, but when I went into the original database to try to find/fix the Attributes issue, it did not make sense. I could not find ID 108. What could be going on here? Likewise, there is no time for me to set up attributes manually. I would appreciate any help! I asked through the form on this page: http://www.prestashop.com/en/switch-to-prestashop for some help earlier, but have had no response.
Dh42
To be honest, the prestashop module is pretty limited in what it will import and the way it works. I am actually working on migrating a shop right now from osc. Luckily it on has 20 products with no attributes. So it worked ok for me. One thing I would suggest if time is an issue is buying this module. http://www.presto-changeo.com/en/prestashop-migration-modules/39-oscommerce-to-prestashop-migration.html They provide excellent support. And I think they have a coupon on their facebook page to make the module even less.
