Display different product colors as separate products

Hi everyone,

 

I'm looking to do a simple thing, display the different colors of a product (attributes) as separate products, with their picture, in the product list page. (PS 1.4.x)

 

E.g. I have a pair of shoes that comes in 3 colours. I can choose the colour from the drop-down in the individual product page but also I want the 3 different colours to be displayed as 3 separate products in the product list (leading to the same product page).

 

I've looked a lot and haven't found any info on this, some help is well appreciated.

Same here!

I created it this way:

Create 1 product for each color

remove the ID from product url

When user clicks on any of them, he will get to the first one (since them all have same link).

Now you just add all attributes to the 1st product

Nicely done, but im not sure where exactly i can remowe the ID from the url?

 

Do i have to find it somewhere in the code? 

 

Firstly i was trying to find it in BO but it doesnt seem to be so easy

This would work but it will mess up with the SEO of the website..Is there anyone who knows any different ways for this to be done?
