which solution is less painful?

Recommended Posts

Hello

I need some help here from more experienced users/developers than myself:

I am going to build a web-shop using Prestashop. As the presentation of the final Prestashop 1.5 is very close, I am not sure which solution to choose:

Solution 1: I build the web-shop using Prestashop 1.4.8 and then upgrade it to 1.5 when it is final

Solution 2: I build the web-shop using Prestashop 1.5 RC and then upgrade it to 1.5 when it is final

Which solution is less painful, considering all the customizations I am going to do when building the web-shop?

Will be grateful for any help/reply.

Thank you both for the replies.

I think I stick with PrestaTeam's reply. Among all the modules I use, one of the most important ones for me is Attribute Wizard Pro (paid) which doesn't work yet with 1.5 RC. I hope by the time i finish the work with other parts of my web-shop, the final 1.5 is out and these guys have worked out a compatible module too.

Any wild guess when PS 1.5 will be final?

Thanks again!

Funny. I get mixed information in this topic. When I read 1.5 forum section there is clearly said that 1.5 RC is not for live

use. Especially when you are asking about probs like why Paypal module is acting funny. And now Prestateam says in this

post "Yeah, go for it wiht 1.5 RC".

Another matter. I got a picture that 1.4.8.2 (or latest) is easy to upgrade 1.5 final. And now Prestateam says that is not so easy?

I just got a big work finished to update 1.3 to 1.4 and now I get more head scrathing because of 1.5 update? Just saying that

I am getting warm feelings about this...

Even there will be PS 1.5 final out it will take several weeks or months to get stable/smooth/usable version. Remember PS 1.4.

Actually, that is the purpose of the RCs, and why we haven't rushed 1.5 final out the door before we're 100% satisfied with it. Our goal is to ensure that on release day, 1.5 final is that stable, smooth version you've been waiting for.
