Add-on licenses for 23 stores....

Recommended Posts

I'm working on a multistore setup where each country has it's own domain / store / language / unique price etc.

It's being built on 1.5RC. Most add-ons don't support 1.5RC yet but it's just a matter of time until they do. I made a list of add-ons i would like to use for the stores and it will cost me around 1500 to 1800 euro for a single license.....

Is one license only valid for one domain or can i use it for all the domains?

If it's just for one domain then the total cost to buy a license for each one will be around 41.400 euro....

Can someone explain to me how add-ons are priced for a multistore / multidomain setup?

Thank you.

I think you can use the module on your shop and subshops since it belongs all to one mainshop and uses the same database. But not sure. It would be a huge rip off if you have to buy for each domain your modules.

I've contacted a few of the add-on developers and 90% doesn't support 1.5 yet, they want to wait for 1.5 final.

I've not asked all developers about how their product will be priced for a multistore setup but the ones i did ask told me i will have to buy a license for each domain... haha. To be sure i asked the same question to the remaining developers, it would be a shame if one has to buy a license for each domain! In that case i will skip on prestashop and go with opencart.

JJ,

Depending on when you are thinking of deploying your store I would wait for using 1.5. It still needs a bit of work and it could be months before everything is straightened out. I cannot see that anyone would release a plugin that supports 1.5 before it actually comes out. If you look at 1.5.09 and 1.5.13 there are several major changes in the database, especially with multiple shop handling. That being said, I think most developers are waiting until things are set in stone to finish converting their plugins.

edit,

as per prestashops store license, one installation per plugin. Which makes it a non issue, also I would imagine that most other companies will follow that rule too.

There are multishop modules for 1.4. PrestaTools supports price by domain as well. here

We have a 1.4 module for multishop but we do not support price by domain. here

There may be viable alternates you may want to consider. Neither which will keep you from moving to 1.5 at some future date.

How will using the multiple shop module upgrade to 1.5? Are you going to have a db upgrade module too?

one would just drop either module and start using the 1.5 support of multishop...I know our module and it doesn't use any db...no core changes either...I suspect the same of the other module.

I have no plans (at this time) to retrofit our module with 1.5.
