simpson7647
Hi all, I've been trying to edit my set up so when registering, the member doesn't have to enter there phone number although now have hit a problem. I was opening the page twice when editing the file and editing one and testing it although now seems to have made a mistake. If you go to my website EDITED OUT And click account. Can you tell me what appears as currently, lots of numbers appear etc and I need this correctly. /home/protect1/public_html/themes/theme318/authentication.tpl I believe I deleted a few lines at the very top of the above thinking I added them accidently. Many thanks, Kind regards, Ryan Edited July 5, 2012 by simpson7647 (see edit history)
Mike Kranzler
Hi Ryan, Did you back up your site before making these changes? If so, I would suggest that before you do anything else, you replace the edited files with the original versions from the backup. -Mike
simpson7647
Hi Mike, thank you for the reply, stupidly, I haven't made a back up lately although there are many from some time ago. Sorry, what should I do? thanks,

Sorry, what should I do? thanks, You may want to consider downloading a fresh copy of your version of PrestaShop (you can find all previous versions at the bottom of the page here), and then grabbing fresh copies of the files your edited from there as replacements. However, if you've previously made other changes to those files, you will no longer have them. -Mike
simpson7647
Thanks for the reply Mike. The Files I've edited since the website was fine have been : public_html/controllers/AuthController.php and public_html/themes/prestashop/authentication.tpl. Could I download one of my backups (last being 90 days ago) and then replace those 2 folders? Many thanks,

And as long as you haven't made any other changes to those files that you'd be heartbroken to lose in that time, you should be fine. You should still back up your site now before making those changes, and then do it again once it's done. -Mike
simpson7647
Thanks for the reply Mike. Yeah I just backed it up just in case. I'm pretty sure I haven't made any other changes to those files. So I should replace the autocontrolled.php and authentication.tpl? thanks,

Correct. In that case, you may want to compare the fresh version to your theme's custom version to see if anything jumps out to you as missing or improperly coded. -Mike

simpson7647
Thanks Mike. I've got hold on my custom theme so will replace: /themes/mytheme/autentication.tpl But regarding the one below, would I replace that using the origional prestashop theme? public_html/themes/prestashop/authentication.tpl. thanks,

simpson7647
Thank God, It seems to be working now. (can you please check the correct screen is shown for my piece of mind?) I replaced the authenticational.tpl with the origional in my custom theme. I then downloaded the latest prestashop and replaced the old /controllers/authcontroller.php with the one from the new prestastop download. simpson7647
Hi Mike, Great, thank you very much for your time and help. This all started because I was trying to edit my website so when registering, users didn't have to enter a phone number which went a little downhill :/
