High CPU Usage from Server Host..?

Recommended Posts

I just recently had my account suspended for apparent high CPU usage from /store/authentication.php

Is this a common issue with the software? I am using the host Shinjiru and purchased the e-Commerce package highlighted here.

I assumed that this package would be more than sufficient with 100GB of bandwidth...if anyone can please shed light to the issue and guide me through a fix that would be greatly appreciated.

Hi MemberRC,

I haven't heard of this sort of issue before, but you may want to consider switching to a hosting provider better suited to PrestaShop's System Requirements, such as BlueHost or HostGator.

Hi Mike

Do you if there is something "wrong" with the PS 1.4.8.2 version that uses a lot CPU usage?

Background:

I had PS 1.3.7 installed at surftown.com with no issues, on the 14:th of june I did an upgrade to 1.4.8.2, after this the site went slow as syrup, I contacted my hosted and they told me that my site was the "worst" site on the server claiming 25-30% of CPU usage. I asked the to move my site to a less occupied server (shared server), After a while they gave in and moved my site to another server that had PHP 5.3 installed, I noticed that the site worked faster than before, but still a little bit slow, any how I have now recieved an email from my host where they say that my page still uses at least 25% of CPU usage and that I should look onto it, cause it´s affecting other customer on the server.

We didn´t have this issue before the upgrade to 1.4.8.2,

The setting in Smarty are as follows.

Smarty:

FORCE COMPILE: NO

CACHE: NO

CCC:

SCSS: Use CCC

SCJS: Use CCC for java

Minify HTML: HTML original

Compress Javascript: Compress inline Javascript

Compress HTML: Compress HTML

Can you bring some light on this issue (I have seen several topics on CPU usage along with 1.4.8.2)

High cpu usage is just a general term, similar to saying "a lot of money". What could be a lot of money to you might not be to the other person. You need to get the specs on the server that you are on. And also what your site is spiking the server to. If they are hosting a few thousand sites on the server and you are using 3% of the cpu resources, they could deem that high, where in all reality it is not. To help us better understand, answer these questions.

Who is the host and what package?

What is your url?

How much traffic are you getting?

The later versions will use a small bit more resources because of the extra database calls and because it stores more information.
