uploading large files (customized Product) | The process

hello to all.
It seems that a lot of posts dealing with uploading pdf or other files while customizing product.
is it possible to collect this process to one solution with all issues:

1. uploading large files - changing limitation
(htaccess, AdminProducts.php or MySQL-PS_PRODUCT_PICTURE_MAX_SIZE)

2. turning the automatic resizing off

3. replacing the small preview icon so the client will know when upload is done
