Mipou
Hi everyone I just installed the version 1.4.8.2, and I didn't modify anything. I have a problem with my cart on Chrome : I can't add anything to my cart ; I can see that the photo of my product moves to the cart bloc, but nothing happens. With Firefox, or safari, it works fine. In fact, I had this same problem with other prestashop I installed, too (on the same domaine, with subdomaines). I thougt that maybe I modified something, so there is something wrong, so I installed a new prestashop to test. But I still have this problem. And I found the solution to make them work : clearing the cookies and cache. But the problem will return, and I have to clear again. I'd like to know if you have had the some problem. Thanks a lot. nurelm
Does it look related to this? I recall the first link below affecting webkit only for me when I resolved the problem. It also wasn't an issue after 1.4.6.2 http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/144747-solvederror-thrown-object-xmlhttprequest/ http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/139873-solved-technical-error-unable-to-add-the-product/

Mipou
Hi I have the similar problem again. With this site (url), and I just tested it with my cookies and cache cleared. I tried just now, to add something to cart, nothing happened. And I think that if I l clear again cache and cookies, it will work again, however, I didn't do anything before, I mean, I cleared before cache and cookies, and than, I tested the site. And at the same time, with IE, it works fine. So I really don't understand. Thank you very much for your help.
Mike Kranzler
Hi kikounos, I just tested this for myself, and it still works fine for me in Chrome. It appears to be an issue with your browser, so you may want to test this on another computer to confirm. -Mike
Mipou
thanks for your answer Mike In fact, now, I know exactly how the problem happens, with Chrome or IE. You have to the following things exactly in the following order : 1 - First of all, you have to clear cookies (and cache, or everything, to be sure) 2 - Than, you go to my main site (url) : which is on catalog mode. 3 - Finally, you go to this site : you will see the problem : you can't add anything into the cart. (If you miss the 2nd step, you won't see any problem.) Edited June 28, 2012 by kikounos (see edit history)
Mipou
or you can go to any site with a subdomain, for example, this one, with the default them.
Mike Kranzler
Hi kikounous, On both of the non-catalog mode sites, I can still add a product to the cart with no issues. -Mike
Mipou
Oh, yes, first, you have to clear cookies or plug in. Than you first go to the main site, etc.
Mike Kranzler
Oh, yes, first, you have to clear cookies or plug in. Than you first go to the main site, etc. I have done this several times, and still have no issues adding products to the cart. Please check from another computer to see if the issue persists there as well. -Mike
Mipou
Hi Mike, thank you so much for testing my sites. But, I also tried again and again, with a PC and a mac. I have always the same problem. The following order is very important : 1 - Clear the cookies 2 - Go to my main site (url) 3 - Finally, you go to this site , or this (If you miss the 2nd step, and you go directly to 3, you won't see any problem.) And with Chrome, Firefox, IE, I met this same problem. Could you please test again? Thank you so much.
Mike Kranzler
Hi kikounos, I had already done this on Chrome yesterday, but here are the exact steps I just followed on Firefox as well: 1. Cleared all cookies and cache 2. Went to your main site 3. Since there were no links to the other two pages on the main site, I typed this URL in the address bar and navigated to that page 4. Added Brochette Boeuf to the cart with no issues 5. Typed the second URL in the address bar and navigated to that page 6. Added the iPod Nano to the cart with no issues Are these the proper steps to follow? -Mike
Mipou
First, I really appreciate all your answers, and you took time for these tests. But I always have the same problem. Here is a video I made just now. My computer is in French, but I can see what I did. Here is the link Thank you so much for your patience, and I hope that you will find something. Mike Kranzler
Hi kikounos, Have you made any changes to your server today? All of a sudden, your site is EXTREMELY slow, and I'm getting a technical error that is usually due to your server not having the php mbstring module. I would recommend that you give your hosting provider a call to get more information. -Mike
Mipou
Yes Mike, you are right! I had a lot of problems, too, for the access of my site this morning. And I tried to call them this morning. But I had no satisfactory answers. I will probably change hosting provider. But this is another problem, don't you think so? I made that video without technical errors, and it was the same thing, for me, yesterday, or before.
Mike Kranzler
I had run that same test several times without error, but everything just felt different this time around. Who is your hosting provider? -Mike
Mipou
hostpapa And I had connection problems before, today is really terrible.
Mike Kranzler
I would definitely recommend you consider switching to a host better suited to handle PrestaShop, such as BlueHost. -Mike
Mipou
Do you have this error message, when you try to add products : " TECHNICAL ERROR: unable to add the product. Details: Error thrown: [object XMLHttpRequest] Text status: error " I had this problem and I think this is due to my hosting provider. But in my video, another problem was showed, don't you think so ? And actually, we can see in my video that the picture of the product moves to the cart. whereas with the TECHNICAL ERROR, you don't see any see
Mike Kranzler
Yes, that is the error I got this morning the second time around as well, and that does tend to be an issue with your hosting provider specifically. -Mike
Mipou
Thank you very much for your suggestion, I will change, and I was looking for a better host. So you know Bluehost, and they are good ? By the way, did you have bad comments about hostpapa on the forum ?
Mike Kranzler
Yes, Bluehost is very good, and I think we're going to see a lot more people using them as they introduce a one-click install feature. I hear complaints about lots of different hosts for various reasons, so I couldn't tell you how many of them are specific to Hostpapa or any other individual hosting provider. -Mike
Mipou
Thank you for your answers. And do you have an idea about the cart problem. I am nearly becoming crazy. I am keeping testing, and sometimes, I don't have the technical error, but I can add nothing.

I think the best thing to do would be to check with your hosting provider, because there really isn't anything else I can suggest at the moment, considering I was never able to fully replicate the error you were having on your end. -Mike

xantyago
Hi, snowgirl. I just tried to add some items at your site with chrome on Windows XP, and I did it without problems. I was having problems with Chrome on IOS (Apple). I solved it deleting cookies and navigation data. But I seem to remember that I already did it before and it started happening again after some time. Arkadia
Hey guys, I'm also having this problem with Chrome...it will only work again after clearing cookies and cache...and obviously that's problematic as people wouldn't bother clearing cookies etc. They'd just leave the store. So I'm also looking for a solution. Will keep you guys posted if I come up with anything. It's a recurring issue and I haven't pin-pointed the cause of it yet.
