czechboysonic
Bonjour & Hello, This is my first post here, please be gentle with me. I've just discovered Prestashop in the last fortnight or so, and trying to dive into customisation and production setup. My main question is - should I go with 1.4.8 (which was the first install I made), or does everyone here think the 1.5 RC / SVN version is 'stable' enough to use (1.5.0.13 kept falling over during mySQL operations so I resorted to pulliing 1.5.0.14 SVN and this installed OK and seems to be fine) ? 1.5 certainly LOOKS slicker than 1.4 but I'll be trying to skin anyway. Just don't know if it's worthwhile to setup in 1.4 if I'll uprade to 1.5 (final) once that's released shortly, or if it will take some time longer to finish off 1.5 so I should setup on 1.4.8 initially ? Any feedback from those of you who have long term Presta experience would be much appreciated. Peter M
Mike Kranzler
Hi Peter, The 1.5RC is very close to the final release, but until it is a final release it cannot be used as a Production store. The purpose of the RC is to give our community as a whole, after multiple beta releases, one last chance to test everything out and let us know if there is anything else that absolutely needs to be done before the final release. The more input we get, the sooner we can finalize version 1.5, so if you're about to start building your site, I would personally recommend that you start building in a local environment with the 1.5RC, give us any input on your experiences, and help us gather the necessary data to release 1.5 final! -Mike

Telesight
@czechboysonic You also have to take into account that it takes a while before you have learned how to configure and "fill" your shop. The moment you have completely mastered this, the final release is there ... (I hope )
urecheatu007
Well, if you just started developing your shop, it makes more sense to do it in the 1.5 branch, since you will sooner or later have to use it. Right now it is quite stable, i even managed to update a 1.3 version to the 1.5.0.13 version without major incidents or data corruption. On the other part even on the stable branch you will find bugs , and as Telesight said, it will take a while to do a proper implementation (i estimate up tu 60 days if you just started using Prestashop, and you want to start with thousands of products). harmon
Hi I want to test multiple stores on subdirectories, but can't seem to find the instructions on how to do it? Can you tell me exact how to set up multiple stores on subdirectories? Thanks
devilsown
Yea don't run it on a live store. I been playing with it and its full of bugs. Many of them i pointed out in 1.4 branch almost a year ago and they are still not fixed.
