Cannot write no-picture image to the category images folder

Hello Everyone,

I am quite a newbie to PrestaShop, but not to PHP, Apache or MySQL. I use to develop e-Commerce apps in ZenCart with ZenMagick previously but found it too much messy. The templating system of ZenCart is CATASTROPHIC as compared to Drupal or PrestaShop. So on my first project in PrestShop I am getting bunch of errors while generating thumbnails. Here's the list of errors that I receive when generating new thumbnails, NOTE: I have taken all the precautions mentioned in the above forum link ie. check for GD library, the only thing I can't do is how to change the folder permissions on WinXP cause I am running PrestaShop in WinXP SP2 with XAMPP.

6 errors

1. Cannot write no-picture image to the category images folder. Please check the folder's writing permissions.
2. Cannot write no-picture image to the manufacturer images folder. Please check the folder's writing permissions.
3. Cannot write no-picture image into the suppliers images folder.
Please check its writing permissions.
4. Cannot write no-picture image into the scenes images folder.
Please check its writing permissions.
5. Cannot write no-picture image to the product images folder. Please check the folder's writing permissions.
6. An error occured while thumbnails' regeneration.

It seems that this error also occurs when I try to upload images for every New Product that I try to add. After I select the product image and click on Save button it posts the data but then just hangs up there nothing happens.

Can you help me out here, all helps appreciated...
