rldev
Hello Forum, I am considering a move from Magento to Prestashop. I have a few questions I hope someone knows the answer for. I could not find them via search. 1. Is there an out of the box way or extension that would allow me to sell a product(a kit) that is made up of different skus and maintain inventory control on the individual skus? The kit will only have one price. This is very important for me. 2. Is there any way to display "Out of Stock" on out of stock product listings? Not when you just ckick on the product, but when you search for an item and get a listing, 3. I have several different types of products, they fall into 3 different categories. Some are flat ship, some are Fedex, and some are shipped free. This was easily doable in Magento as I could create rules for each category. I do see a ship by category module, but it doesn't look like it would allow me to choose Fedex as one of my options. So basically I need a product or category based shipping option that will allow me to choose different shipping methods Is the same apparent for OC? To be more clear if customer orders product A(free ship) only, it is free ship. If customer orders product A(free ship) and product B(flat rate ship), customer is charged flat rate ship. If customer orders C(Fedex ship), customer is charged live Fedex Rate. If customer orders A, B, C or A, C or B, C; customer is then charged Fedex Live rate. 4. Does anyone have experience with Cart2Cart for moving data from Magento to OpenCart?
Mike Kranzler
Hi rldev, First of all, welcome to PrestaShop! I hope I can address some of your concerns below. 1. Is there an out of the box way or extension that would allow me to sell a product(a kit) that is made up of different skus and maintain inventory control on the individual skus? The kit will only have one price. This is very important for me. Yes, we have several modules for this. Our most popular is Advanced Pack 4. 2. Is there any way to display "Out of Stock" on out of stock product listings? Not when you just ckick on the product, but when you search for an item and get a listing, Yes, you can configure your site so that products are shown as Out of Stock on the category pages, not just the individual product pages. 3. I have several different types of products, they fall into 3 different categories. Some are flat ship, some are Fedex, and some are shipped free. This was easily doable in Magento as I could create rules for each category. I do see a ship by category module, but it doesn't look like it would allow me to choose Fedex as one of my options. When you configure a carrier like FedEx, you can assign specific product rules after signing in with your FedEx account. 4. Does anyone have experience with Cart2Cart for moving data from Magento to OpenCart PrestaShop? [FTFY ] We're not officially affiliated with them so I don't have anything in the way of statistics, but I do know a lot of our users have used their service in the past, and I definitely recommend it very often to our users. I hope this helps! -Mike
rldev
Hello Mike, I should be more clear about inventory. I know on some other system such extensions allow you to manage inventory specifically for such a kit. What I need is something that pulls off the existing inventory of these existing products. In other words, my kits are all comprised of existing products with existing inventory. I do not want to have start entering new inventory within the kit. Make any sense? Yes, that makes sense, and the module I linked you to above should handle that for you. Go ahead and check out the description and let me know if that fills your needs. -Mike
