Davis Joseph
Hi, Yes, it may cause an error when you buy ssl for domain.com and try to work it for www.yourdomain.com. Error should be for domain name mismatch. This is the common issue for all new to ssl certs. You need to be careful when you purchase ssl. You should purchase ssl for www.yourdomain.com then only it works for both www and non-www domain names. I could assist you further if you can provide website name. http://forums.asp.net/t/1746386.aspx/1 There you can read more about this error and resolution. sophiep
As recommended by other experts, you will have to generate CSR for specified domain otherwise it may cause problem for non-www or www domains. Now a days many CA (certificate authorities) are offering same certificate for both the version of your website but still it depending upon which SSL you choose. I recommend reading this blog post for detailed information about www and non-www version of SSL http://www.clickssl.com/blog/do-i-need-different-ssl-certificates-for-www-non-www-domain/
