Default Lowest Shipping & Shipping Calculations

I've activated the USPS module but I've been stuck on a few things...

 

1) The calculation for shipping seems off. I've played with it for hours and removed all "handling" fees and such, but I can't get the actual postage to come out correctly. I even went to the post office to verify the exact amount of postage it would require, but it's just not coming up with the same costs. It's about $.50 off for a $2.00 shipping cost. Any ideas?

 

2) How do I set the cart to default to the lowest (or pre-selected) shipping available? I have 3 options in USPS checked, but the cart never picks the cheapest method. How do I set this? Or can I order the priority of shipping methods somehow?

 

3) After playing with it for hours, the cart no longer shows the shipping automatically. Not until I go through the checkout and get to the shipping step does it show the calculated shipping. Why? What did I do?

I have had the same problem. I reckon there is someting wrong with the module. Eventually disabled it and manually entered all costs.

Carrier selected as default is used when it applies to the cart then carrier options are ordered in the order they are created (in the order they are installed/enabled if by a module). You need to delete/re-create (or uninstall/reinstall) to order carriers in a specific order.
