Query eats CPU

Recommended Posts

I’ve installed the 1.4.7.0 PS some months ago and works well, that was I thought. But the server provider find me some days ago and send a log; the webshop eats the CPU. He said the queries need plenty of resources and I have to do something.

The webshop has about 1000 products and about 25.000 attributes and almost all of the attributes are set up in the Block layered navigation.

Is it possible the huge queries makes problem on the server?

Is anybody having idea why the queries can slow down the server?

if you have a lot of products in one category, each time one navigates to that category, ps will read each product to calculate the pagination. It's very hard to guess without looking at mysql reports url..etc..but watch your product depth per category.

Thank you Elpatron! I understand but it is a very bad news for me.

I have only 3 categories for the 1000 products, but our visitor must need to choose the attributes to find the right products. This is essential! Anyway I do not insist on instant queries.

Is there any module or other possibility to set up filters (without instant query) and click to "Find" to filtering the right products?

You can check your mysql runtime information from phpmyadmin, it will give your some great information about your mysql perfromance especially as it concerns cache...you can then adjust (assuming your hosting plan allows it) the runtime values to give you a better cache....though true cache in mysql isn't avail unless you run enterprise version.
