cerovic
Hi. I use PS 1.4.0.17. When I add this product combination color/size for examlpe - red/M, red/XL, blue/M, blue/S in BO, customer can see these combinations in FO but also combinations which are not added like red S or blue M. So is it possible to do, that when I choose blue color in first SELECT, it will be just 2 size, which was added to this color (M and S in this case), in second SELECT? Thanks. phrasespot
Use two different attribute groups for size and color. Then in back office when creating combinations, just select just the required attribute from each attribute group .
ronlin-9
Hi Phrasespot, I have the same issue cerkoxxl and I did try your solution but it doesn´t work for me. The "non-existing" combinations still show up in FO. For example: Let´s say I have 2 attribute groups - Size and Color (like the example above) The attributes in respective group are: S(mal) M(edium) L(arge) for the Size group and R(ed) and B(lue) for the Color group. Only S and M are the available sizes for Red, and M and L are the available sizes for Blue. If I choose Red and Blue as attributes in Color and S, M, L from the Size group and then generate the combinations, it will generate 6 combinations even though I only want 4 (I do not want the Red-L and the Blue-S combination). Even if I delete these combinations, in FO it is still possible to choose Red-L (which then says that this combination is not possible). The point is that if you have 4-5 attributes to select, it can be hard for the customer to know which combinations actually are available (no one wants to try 5-10 different combinations before they are able to select a combination that can be ordered). Maybe I missed something? Thanks! Edited June 13, 2012 by ronlin-9 (see edit history)
phrasespot
Only S and M are the available sizes for Red, and M and L are the available sizes for Blue. Then the solution is the opposite. Combine two attribute groups into one and select all when generating combinations. Red-S Red-M Blue-M Blue-L PrestaShop has some limitations regarding attributes. If you want finer grained control, you may need something like Attribute Wizard Pro.
ronlin-9
PrestaShop has some limitations regarding attributes. That is unfortunate, as I think this not a very unique situation to be in (not all combinations valid for a specific product). But the product generator is still useful. One last question. Is it possible to generate reference numbers unique to each combination as well? Thanks!
phrasespot
That is what the reference column is for but sadly there is not an easy way to _generate_ a unique one for each combination unless you override Product class with necessary ref generation algorithm. You need to edit each one post generation.

cerovic
Thanks your replays and communication. Phrasespot and Ronlin-9, your communication answered my question, even thought, there is not a solution. Just Attribute Wizard module, which looks really prefect, but costs 75$. I have to speak with my colleague and maybe we will buy this module or change the approach to products or combination, as Prasespot suggested. I know, that is is not place for this issue, but nobody answered my second post, so if you will be so kind and look at it. Maybe you know solution.
