intx
Hello Everybody, Want to share my sad experience with Prestashopic. I believe that community must be aware of cases like this. I run two projects. A couple of months ago i've purchased one template from prestashopic.com. It is nice, works well, i even got some support when i had questions. So, i decided to buy another for my second project. Turned out that template has some bugs and i also wanted some modifications. Sent several emails, but got no response. Then i found another template at themeforest.net, unluckily also developed by Prestashopic - its developer Ulvi Aslanov. Since it was cheap, but nice, i decided to purchase it instead of working on previous one. Turned out that this template also has serious bugs and not compatible with default prestashop modules (description of the product claimed it does), for instance - layered navigation module. It was one month ago. So far i've sent tons of emails, made several phone calls to Ulvi. He has promised to fix the problem, but so far i got no fix, nor response. I can't reach him by phone either. Result, my project is postponed for uncertain time, i wasted time and money. Two days ago the template was inspected by one of Prestashop certified developers and it's confirmed that it has serious bugs. For those who is considering to buy from Prestashopic - think twice. Yes, templates are quite cheap, but more likely you will not get any support and loose your money and time. There are quite many developers for Prestashop in the market nowadays. I suppose Prestashop Team must create black and white lists of independent developers. Otherwise dishonest developers will spoil Prestashop's reputation. P.S. layered navigation module still doesn't work with purchased template, so any help will be appreciated. Kind regards, intx Edited June 1, 2012 by intx (see edit history)
Dh42
As someone that has used templates a time or two before and made a few templates I have to say this. When you design a template you cannot expect it to work with all modules. You have to design the template around the modules that you are wanting to use. That being said the best place to get modules from is the prestashop store, or one of the certified developers that run their own stores.

The problem is that the developer claimed it compatible with default modules. I believe that layered navigation is default and important module. Didn't see many fashion stores not using layered filter. I was looking for a clean, simple design, couldn't find it elsewhere. Didn't suppose that developer can behave like this. Obviously they have enough customers to afford it.

intx
Hi, Thanks for informing us about this problem. Sorry for inconvenience. We will contact with our developer to learn why he did not respond to your emails. If he can not fix bug that you said, we will refund your money. Sorry again. Looks like things are not moving yet. I can remind what themes were involved. First malfunctioning theme was "Ostore". Besides different layout issues (the complete list of issues was emailed on April 17th) it was discovered that Layered navigation doesn't work. To replace malfunctioning "Ostore", the "Stored" theme from themeforest.net was purchased. This one has problems with layered navigation, friendly urls and layout compatibility with default modules. Themeforest.net has reimbursed the cost of "Stored" theme. What i'm awaiting from Prestashopic is either to reimburse the cost of "Ostore" theme, or fix the "Stored" theme because i wish to keep it for my project. It is worth to mention that "Ostore" was 3 times more expensive then reimbursed "Stored" theme.

Mike Kranzler
Hi intx, Prestashopic has been online since you posted this last request, so it's a bit unsettling that they did not respond to you at that point. I have messaged him one more time strongly urging him to respond or risk being banned from the forums, as we cannot have this sort of lack of service from developers here on the forums. I will continue to monitor this for you. -Mike

Why purchaser did not force themeforest to refund his money? Stored theme is not our responsibility. Regards

intx
Hi Mike, We contacted with Ulvi. He also did not respond to our emails. Moreover theme pruchased from themeforest.net not from Prestashopic.com. Why purchaser did not force themeforest to refund his money? Stored theme is not our responsibility. Regards Alright, let's start from beginning: 1. Theme purchased from prestashopic.com on March 20th - "Ostore". The price was 59 EUR. This theme had layout problems and non-working layered module. Also i needed a modification. I've sent several emails, but you have not responded. 2. To replace "Ostore", i've purchased "Stored" theme from themeforest.net. The price was 25 $. The link to "Stored" theme i've found here: http://www.prestashopic.com/stored-prestashop-clothing-template Moreover the theme had a link to prestashopic.com in the footer. So, saying you don't have any relation to this theme is not true. 3. After tons of emails and theme's inspection by certified Prestashop designer - Themeforest.net was very kind to reimburse faulty "Stored" theme. But since i have pending issue with your another theme "Ostore", i offered you to fix "Stored" theme instead, because i wish to keep it. 4. If you are not able to fix "Stored", no problem - go ahead and fix "Ostore" theme purchased from Prestashopic. Or refund money. I think this is a reasonable request. 5. Honestly i could pay reasonable amount for "bug fix" of "Stored" theme and even not asking for refund of "Ostore" theme. But because of being totally ignored by Prestashopic - i had no other option but to brought up this issue here. P.S. I've purchased "Ostore" on April 26th. Three months has gone since i purchased "Stored" theme. And only thanks to Mike, finally I got a reply from you. The question is not about bugs etc, every product might have them, the question is about customer support. We could easily resolve it long time ago without involving the Prestashop.
