amandamcdonald
We have an application in South Africa requiring an eCommerce application. We have been looking at PrestaShop ( have built a sample site, etc ), but I have some questions: We will most definately need to make changes to Prestashop & most probably some "core changes" - especially with respect to the manner in which stock is treated ( which will also involve DB changes ). Initial plan was to hire some PHP / MySQL developers in India & to do this development using Virtuemart ... so Im very much in 2 minds as to the best route to go. Some companies more involved with Prestashop might be a better choice - NOW: How is this sort of thing dealt with ? I understand that if one makes "core changes" you taking "the risk" of future "compatibility" on yourself, etc, etc ( Im an electronic engineer, although not a web developer per say, I understand all the basic's pro's con's etc. ) From a licensing perspective - can one use PrestaSop & make changes in the core "as required" ? The application is a national distribution of kiosks using this site for "rental application". There would be NO online transaction in Project Phase 1 ( although we would like to explore possibility in future ) - it is important that the site must be mobile friendly & it is important that "stock" from ALL kiosks must be "updated" in a live manner - ie the web user must be able to see almost "immediate" availability of stock OR NOT & order ( as COD ) - so there will be some interaction via secure protocol with a desktop application in the kiosk. Can you suggest any recommended path for the development ?
