Dh42
Are there any plans of Prestashop 1.5 shipping with a module that makes it legal to use in the Eurozone? Or is this something that is being left to 3rd party developers?
SuperCharlie
After doing some research.. I posted this the other day.. hope it helps out. http://www.prestashop.com/forums/topic/171205-eu-cookie-law-details/ In general, it is not *all* cookies, it is focused on trivial and tracking. The guidance document specifically exempts shopping cart type uses.
Dh42
I saw this weekend where they did an 11th hour change of the definition of the law. I was just wondering if 1.5 had something in place for this, or if they were going to rely on 3rd party developers for a solution. It should have been something that was planned on and implemented in previous versions imho.
davewalschot
@superCharly, thanks for the information. We are also looking into the cookie law, in the Netherlands they will start enforcing 1-1-2013 but there is a lot of commotion around it. Tests that several big Dutch sites have done show a decrease of above 50% when the site starts with a dialog screen that must be accepted before continuing to the site!! I found some interesting things (But am also not a lawyer so I am not taking any responsibility on the correctness of this) Indeed as you state a webshop is exempted if the information is only needed to remember the shopping cart. BUT, keeping the IP address and used search term (as PS 1.4.8.2 does) is not strictly needed for this purpose, and as it is kept in the orders detail section in the back office together with the personal information of the customer this could be classified as not strictly needed. Consequence of this is that the consent of the visitor is needed in advance. If all my assumptions are correct this would mean that the site needs approval from the visitor before storing any information or placing a cookie. Next to that there is also a responsibility on third party cookies and information that is stored. Anybody already having info on Google analytic or any third party Prestashop modules is invited to share it here. When i find out more i will post it.
