Urgent - Which language will PrestaShop use for a first time visitor?

Lets say my site is in two language, Japanese and English.

 

Assuming no other plugins, which language version will Prestashop serve

up to somebody with no previous visitor history on the site.

 

Does Prestashop "read" the visitor's browser language setting and make that assumption?

 

Does it store the last know language choice of a visitor as a cookie and use that for

future visits?
