We are using below configuration, category – 225 × 225 px – Categories [1st Page of store] home – 150 × 150 px – Products – All products shown in particular category medium – 80 × 80 px large – 400 × 400 px – Products [image before thickbox] thickbox – 700 × 700 px – Disabled Experts suggestions required. 1. Any changes are required in above dimensions? 2. What dimension of images are to be uploaded for above settings in BO? 700x700 or 600x600 or 500x500 or 400x400 to avoid white background within images. Also refer attached BO settings. Then I will decide what dimension image is to be selected before uploading. Or as per you dimension of images wont matter at all? Thanks!!! Any of those will do. You can upload an 100000000x100000000 image and it will still be reduced to: category – 225 × 225 px home – 150 × 150 px medium – 80 × 80 px large – 400 × 400 px As long as it is not less than 700x700, and 400x400 if not using thickbox, so there is no enlargening, you will be OK. What will affect the load speed is, as well as those dimensions you specified (smaller dimesion, faster load), the image quality which you can set under the same tab. The lower the image quality, the smaller the image size (in bytes), so it is a compromise between the response time and the image quality. There is no hard rules, very much depends on the image subject. A vase image with no flowers is more resilient to quality reduction than the one with flowers in it. As far as the dimesions are concerned, white space is only a problem if you specify square dimensions and upload rectangular images or vice versa. For example compare your avatar and mine. Other than that WS has no relation to the dimensions. The subject's composition does though, if WS in original, then there will WS in generated images. Still what I feel is, zoom effect is getting used over image Large 400 x 400 Why I feel so is, we are no more using presta zoom. What we are using is module "Zoom Magic"............ I am trying to know in so deep coz if thickbox is no more getting used then i will upload images of dimension 500x500 But if thickbox is yet getting used then 500x500 will be lesser dimension than thickbox size [700x700] and white background will become visible. So now I will specify dimension for thickbox as either 500x500 or 600x600 max I guess 700x700 is too much specially when products at our store are getting added at faster rate. I hope changing this size from 700x700 to 500x500 wont affect much quality wise to existing images. Plz advice!!
