Problem with combination generator

Recommended Posts

Hello all

I have a logical problem with combination generator and I am not sure if this is a bug or I am doing something wrong. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What I want:

  1. Suppose I have iPod white and iPod pink

    1. ipod white comes in 8gb and 16gb
    2. ipod pink comes in 32gb only

[*]I want to be able to

  1. select ipod white and only see the options for 8 and 16 gb.
  2. select ipod pink and only see 32gb option

What I am doing:

  1. In combination generator I select "color white", then Diskspce 8 & 16 and click on "add"
  2. Then I select "color pink", then diskspace 32gb and click on "add"

What happens:

  1. In the front shop, when I choose either white or pink I see te option for 8,16 and 32 gb

Workaround:

  1. I tried removing the combinations 8 and 16 for pink from "combinations" tab
  2. what I get now is that the same options still appear for both colours, but now if I select pink, 8gb or 16gb, it will tell the visitor "this combination does not exist".
  3. This is a really ugly workaround.

If anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Regards

Hi Nima,

This is normal behavior for PrestaShop's Combinations Generator. In order to customize the specific options that show up when you select a specific color, for example, you would need to do some custom coding or find an external module.

Hello Tomerg3

Thank you for your email. I had a look at your website and it seemed like what I want. I have three questions for you.

1) is there any chance I can see the backoffice of your demo site. I know there were a couple of screenshots, but I was wondering if I could try it, specially since I want to see it in drop down box mode.

2) Can we use the built in (or any other) bulk import module to import data here or does it have to be manual

3) Does "Mass combination Editor" module include the functionality of "Attribute Wizard"?

Please let me know

Regards

Nima

1) We don't have a backoffice demo for that, but we do have one for our Attribute Wizard Pro module, the backoffice has similar options, and you will be able to see it on the front office (try it with 1 attribute group only, as the Pro handles combination differently).

2) With the regular wizard, there are no changes to the way combinations are handled, so you can use all the existing tools.

3) No, they are separate modules, they can work together, but do not have overlapping functionality
