paulcreedy
I'm looking to move from zencart to either prestashop or opencart, but haven't decided yet. A search by attribute is vital for my store and will be the deciding factor. Can you tell me if this functionality is included either as standard, or as a free/paid for module. This is the exact feature I'm looking for, where the attributes are clickable to cause the search. http://adamnicholson.co.uk/opencart/index.php?route=product/category&path=59 I'm also looking for a product with attributes import module - any suggestions? Thank you
Mike Kranzler
Hi paulcreedy, PrestaShop has a powerful layered navigation module that comes by default which should be perfect for what you're looking to accomplish. And in terms of importing your products and data, I would strongly recommend this service. I hope this helps. -Mike
paulcreedy
Thanks for the time to take the reply Mike I'm not sure what you mean by layered navigation. Forgive the ignorance but so many shops use their own terms for different things that I need to be clear on what it is. Do you happen to have or know of a site online using this I could see as an example? Having a good filter/search GUI as in the example is ideally what I'm after. The data migration isn't a problem per say, as I need to import the stock on weekly basis even after it is migrated/created. So I'm still pretty much keen on there being a good import module available.
Mike Kranzler
Hi paulcreedy, You can see our Layered Navigation module in action on the lefthand side of this page of our online demo. I hope this helps. -Mike
paulcreedy
Hi Mike After a lot of digging around I found this module on the add ins page http://addons.prestashop.com/en/search-filter/617-live-filter-pro.html Seems to have the type of functionality I was looking for; a bit expensive for a module though! I've been looking at the documentation and can't find anything about import/export of products and options. Do you happen to know if there is any documentation online about that you could point me at?
Mike Kranzler
Hi paulcreedy, Did you check out the link I posted above? This functionality comes with PrestaShop by default already. As for import/export of products, you can import them in CSV form through your Back Office under Tools > CSV Import. Exporting, however, will require an external module. I hope this helps. -Mike
paulcreedy
Ah! Sorry I should have scrolled down more. I though you meant the category menu on the top left. I didn't notice the filters below it. So that's a standard part of Prestashop? Great, that's another tick box on the features I need. Do you know if product options be imported eg size:small, colour: blue etc? I can't find any documentation online about it.
Mike Kranzler
To do that, you'll need an external module such as this one. However, it may be quicker and easier to use our combinations generator to rebuild them from scratch, as you can see here. I hope this helps. -Mike
Enque
Hi, My shop is a computer, laptop shop and i would like a filter criteria depending on price, processor, Ram, HDD and other attributes. I have already created the proper attribute groups and attributes by i can't see to find a module (Free) that allows users to search based on those attributes. If prestashop comes with this kind of modules, please tell me. @Mike Kranzler, The link you provided http://demo-store.prestashop.com/en/6-electronics is a good example of the type module i want. So, if i can get that type of services from Prestashop without installing other modules, then Where i can i find documentation (tutorial) on the layered Navigation Module. Thanks. Mike Kranzler
Hi Enque, What version of PrestaShop are you using? PrestaShop comes with the Layered Navigation module by default, you can find it in your Back Office under the Modules tab, under "Front Office Features." I hope this helps. -Mike
Enque
Wow, That was a fast Response, Great Support! Anyways, my version is PrestaShop™ 1.4.8.2.
Mike Kranzler
In that case, you definitely have this module available on your site. Go ahead and give that a try, and let me know if that fills your needs! In that demo, we only used the Layered Navigation module to create the functionality you liked, so you should have no issues doing so yourself. -Mike
Enque
After a while of trying it out, i finally got it to work like the way i wanted. I can now search for computers and laptos depending on RAM, HDD, Price, Processor, etc... Now what i'm trying to do is, to make the website 100% width and i have attained that in many joomla websites. The way i want to do it is, to make the right and left modules have a contant width and the center column to increase or decrease size depending on the screen resolution. This was the way i had attained 100% width in websites, by making only the center part fluid and making the left and right columns constant. How can i attain that on Prestashop?
