scannon
New install of WAMP server. Local database setup and local presta shop setup and works fine. When trying to access from the outside, it tries to go to http://localhost/MYWEBSTORE'>http://localhost/MYWEBSTORE instead of using the domain name. I am running windows server 2003 hosting my own site. IF i modify the sittings.inc.php file from databaseserver 'localhost' to my IP address I get the Link to Database Cannot be established" but if i leave at localhost then it forward to http://localhost which will not work from an outside line. Please help.
Mike Kranzler
Hi scannon, When you install on localhost, you cannot access it beyond your local machine. You will not be able to access your site from an outside line while your site is installed on local. -Mike
scannon
So how do I do that? Are there any instructions on the prestashop site that detail this? to restate, when I go to www.mydomain.com/prestashop it redirects to http://localhost/prestashop. Mike Kranzler
To move your site from local to live, or from one domain to another, please follow all the steps in our guide here. I hope this helps. -Mike
scannon
Unfortunately this will not help me as the files are on the hosting server now. We host our own website. Our website works. When I follow the online instructions for installing Prestashop everything works. WAMP with Apache, SQL and PHP, db connection test during install, email notifications, all of it. I just can not get it to work from the outside. I am running MS Windows Server 2003. WAMPServer 2.2 PrestaShop 1.4.4.

WAMPServer 2.2 PrestaShop 1.4.4.0 Hi scannon, Just to make sure we're on the same page, is your site still installed on localhost or on its own domain? -Mike
scannon
We use a domain name from GoDaddy that points to our own webserver where we host our own websites. So, I have logged into our web server where I installed WAMP Server 2.2 and then installed Presstashop 1.4.4.0. This same server houses our website. Not sure but does that answer your question? I have no problem hosting CSS Sites, HTML Sites, Wordpress sites, only having the issue with Prestashop.

Mike Kranzler
In that situation, the guide I posted above certainly should give you the information you need to fix this. Go ahead and run through it again, confirm that you've followed all the steps, and let me know if it still isn't working for you after that. -Mike
scannon
Ok. thank you. All I had to do was take out the "Local Host" from the shop domain name field and leave it at blank. That solved it.
Mike Kranzler
Great, I'm glad you were able to resolve this! I'll go ahead and mark this thread as solved for you. Happy selling! -Mike
