[SOLVED] Friendly URLs and URL Rewriting (ps 1.4.7)

I've spent most of the day trying to resolve this, all to no avail!

 

When I have friendly urls on I have no images in my front office and my links all return a 404 error.

 

Here's what I've done:

1. Enabled Friendly URLs in the back office.
   
2. Created a blank .htaccess file in my root and set it to 666
   
3. Generated the .htaccess file via back office
   
4. Cleared smarty cache and compile directories
   
5. Cleared IE & FF browser cache
   
6. Double checked with my hosting Co that the server allows url rewriting
   
7. Checked that .htaccess is being written to
   

 

I've now run out of ideas, any advice welcomed.

Ok, I'm sure it's not my hosting Co, I've just carried out a clean install of a test shop on my server and friendly urls and images work.

 

So....is there's a mod thats breaking friendly urls?

Here's how I solved my problem, it may work for you.

 

Preferences-> SEO & URL

 

remove www. from shop domain name

 

Tools-> Generators

 

Generate .htaccess

 

Went to my front office and images and URLs were working.
