Download Delivery And Shipped Product Delivery Question

Hello,

 

My shop sells software. We offer our customers the opportunity to download our software from our website and also receive a disk in the mail. I want the cart to calculate shipping and handling (which it does), but also send them an email with their product confirmation that gives them instructions on how to download the file from our website.

 

If you set the product as a downloaded item, the cart does not add shipping and handling. It seems like it is either one or the other, but not both.

 

Is their anyway I can both have shipping and handling charged to the customer, and also give them the opportunity to download a file from our site?

 

Or is there a way to attach a custom message that is product specific to each product so instructions on how to download the product would come on their invoice that is emailed to them?

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
