henri.tseng
Hi everyone, I'm running on 1.3.6.0 at the moment, I have been reading the post on AutoUpgrade Guide Upgrading to 1.4.5.1 - Frequently Asked Questions Layered Navigation Module For 1.4.5.1 And + [uPDATED 04/04/12] but it seems like every upgrade will occurs some problem, unless you're running a version which is very close to the latest version, just checking with everyone here on this forum, Is it necessary to upgrade to the latest version of the prestashop? I know the pros is you don't have to face all those headaching problems once you have updated the cons will be you don't have the latest version and you are missing out on some of the goodies. But What do you guys reckon ? -Henri
El Patron
When I looked at taking a 1.2.5 template forward to a 1.4.x for someone. The amount of work to copy out your global.css into separate module file .css to conform to ps standars, is very time consuming, i.e. not cost affective. You can buy a high end 1.4 template that was designed to use new ps functions for really for the amount of work the developers have put into them, for very little money. IMHO Site owners need to provide customers with new easier ways to shop, keeping their branding (logo), and throw out the outdated.

You don't actually have to do that as the template would work just fine using just the global.css or a combination of new css files and the global.css. Updating an old template really depends on how customised the template is in the first place.
