Dahl99
Hi, I've just installed version 1.4.7 but having problems accessing the site and the back office. I think it is to do with folder/file permissions. Where can I find out the permissions for the folders/files. Thank you. Best wishes, Dahl

Carl Favre
Hi webbusiness23, You have the listing of the files/folders in the online documentation.
Dahl99
Hi, could you please post a link as I have searched and searched and can't find the information anywhere. Thank you.
Carl Favre
You can find the list here http://doc.prestashop.com/display/PS14/Getting+Started
webbusiness23
Hi, thanks for your answer, i know that info page. But the CHMOD list of files / directories does not exist. This is what i need. Can you point me to it, please?
Carl Favre
Well it depends based on your server. As said in the doc : Some hosts might require you to use CHMOD 777, although it is not recommended for anything more than a one-time need. If you have to use CHMOD 777 in order to install PrestaShop, make sure to switch to a safer setting (775, 755 or even 644) once you are done installing. The install wizard should tell you which file/folder needs more permissions during install.
Dahl99
Like webbusiness23 I know that file and like they say it does not list the files that need changing. Also during the installation it does not tell me which files to change.
Carl Favre
Yes it does or are you talking about something else?
webbusiness23
I think your printscreen is made after you hit the install button. I think i need to CHMOD the files / folders before i enter the install mode, right?
Carl Favre
No it is the second screen just after agreeing to the terms and conditions and selecting your language
webbusiness23
Like I was saying: you cannot see the CHMOD list before you enter the yoursite.com/install URL. Right? Thanks your your answers!
Carl Favre
Yes you need to start the install wizard. But you can see it in the online doc as I said before .
jewellalw
That's good question that I would like to know as well!
webbusiness23
Yes you need to start the install wizard. But you can see it in the online doc as I said before . Please be kind and give us the exact page of the docs where we can see the CHMOD list. Thank you!
Carl Favre
But I already gave you the page with the above screenshot. http://doc.prestasho...Getting+Started If you scroll down you will find the picture above, you just have to CHMOD 755 or 775 based on your server these files/folders. erickhelena
hey hello i am running the same situation , i managed to change the permissions with filezilla , but i still get La base de datos de servidor no se ha encontrado, por favor, compruebe sus datos de acceso o el nombre del servidor. Which actually it means the database cant be found , i have created the database and using the same login and database name , changed permisions to folder and still the same stupid message i even changed the permissions to 777 Edited July 25, 2012 by erickhelena (see edit history)
HaCos
Can we access the above file for permissions validation as an independent php file? I think i would be really helpfull so people to run it after a new server installation / moved / migration in order to validate the common issue permissions fixes.
