Can't get past Database Configuration page...

Recommended Posts

Well, I have installed Prestashop before and have been successful. This time however, every time I get to the Database Configuration page, I fill in all the information and verify it. Prestashop says everything is fine and works properly. However, when I click next, it shows the same page. It doesn't get past the Database Configuration page and it doesn't say anything is wrong with what I have entered... What is going on? I need this to work, but it's not finishing the installation!!!! I have tried refreshing the page and starting the installation all over again, it just doesn't work.

Please help me. :(

I have a windows server 2008 r2 box in my house with its own static ip address. It is my web server.

Are you configuring the email information as well? On some server configurations, we've found that this can cause some issues, but if you leave that blank you'll often be able to move forward without issue.

I am also having this problem, I've filled in the database configuration fields but when I click the 'Next' button I get the grey overlay fade in over the form with the rotating arrows to show it's doing something, but within about a second or 2 the overlay fades out again leaving me on the databse configuration page.

The same thing happens when I click the 'Verify my database settings' button, with no confirmation on whether the setting were verified or not.

my web host are simplewebhosting (http://www.simplewebhosting.co.uk/), and I've trried the installation on both Safari 5.1.1 and Firefox 11.0

I shall PM the url to Mike as he requested that from the original poster, but if anyone else is able to help I'd be most appreciative.

Thanks

Hello everyone. First post. :)

I'm having exactly the same problem as the OP. The installation wizard starts out fine. I move swiftly through the first two steps, but I'm stuck at the third step: database configuration.

I type the DB information and choose InnoDB. When I verify the DB settings, it returns successfully.

I also tried the email. It works as well.

I'm choosing a "Full install." I click "Next" and a gray overlay with a spinning circular arrows starts. A minute or two later it will fade away. I'm still in the same step, namely de DB configuration step.

If I try clicking "Next" again, it will complain that "A Prestashop database already exists, please drop it or change the prefix."

Something has gone wrong. I've spent a day trying to figure it out, but haven't had success.

After retrying this step many times, and paying attention to the DB, I've noticed something rather awkward. The amount of tables that gets created is always different. If I choose InnoDB, it'll be something between 20-50 tables. If I choose MyISAM, it'll be 80-153.

I also noticed an error in the JavaScript console:

GET http://XXXXXX.com/install/model.php?_=1334700273048&method=createDB&tablePrefix=ps_&mode=full&type=MySQL&server=XXXXXX&login=XXXXXX&password=XXXXXX&engine=InnoDB&name=XXXXXX&language=0 500 (Internal Server Error)
c.extend.ajax jquery-1.4.4.min.js:141
createDB controller.js:409
verifyThisStep controller.js:238
nextTab controller.js:46
c.event.handle jquery-1.4.4.min.js:63
c.event.add.h.handle.o jquery-1.4.4.min.js:56

I'm willing to work closely with developers to fix this issue. It seems that I'm not the only one being met with this.

Thanks in advance. :)

EDIT: Forgot to mention that my web hosting is DreamHost.

I just got this on my Centos 6 VPS

Quite weird as i have installed prestashop several times before. The Database confirms ok and the e-mail test passes but when you hit "next" the light box pops up and twirls for a moment then disappears.

A quick check in my apache error log showed this error

[Thu Apr 19 16:47:56 2012] [error] [client 1*] PHP Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied for user 'kdguser'@'localhost' (using password: NO) in /home/wwwuser/html/public/classes/MySQL.php on line 34, referer: http://www.myserver.com/install/

So the install routine was using a blank password.

On inspection of the settings.inc.php file it would appear the password field is blankl

So for some reason the install routine was not writing the password.

I got around it by setting my database user to have blank password. which let me proceed to the next screen

Of course I will manually change it later.

I will let you know how i get on

I am having the same issue too - we are using Dreamhost and have installed a Prestashop before and it worked fine.

Any suggestions guys??

I had the same problem when trying to install a test shop on wamp. I had two issues, a corrupt file and file permissions. I solved it by downloading a fresh copy of Prestashop and setting chmod to 777 (if I remember correctly) on my install and config directories.

I also have the same problem.

My server has 100% of the requirements, the database is on it's own server and checks ok. The email checks ok (standard and advanced).

I click next the screen greys and the arrows roll around and then it just returns to the same screen.

Hello printnweb,

Thanks for the message. Yes sometimes it will take a longer length of time depending on the host servers. I'm glad you had your issue solved! Thanks for choosing PrestaShop!

Thank you Samers, many times this is a hosting provider issue. This is why I recommend BlueHost's shared servers. They have a great simple script install and PrestaShop support. Check them out at www.bluehost.com/prestashop

I can understand your partnership with bluehost.com and I truly respect that but they don't offer anything different than any other hosting company, in all honesty they really suck these days and are anal retentive about everything.

There are much better hosting companies out there with amazing customer service such as Hostgator and BigScoots. I left my shared hosting account I had with HostGator in favor of a VPS from BigScoots, why? Because their support team is wicked fast at resolving issues, even faster response time than Hostgator and they actually respect their customers and talk to you like a human and not as if they are some robot.

So yeah there are much better solutions than BlueHost, and the like. :)

Also for the most part, Prestashop works great on every shared hosting solution i've ever tried, but now that i've tried out a VPS solution I don't think i'll ever go back to shared hosting.
