desquinn
Hi, originally set up this site for a freind and he wanted it on its own sub directory of /shop/ but now he wants to move it to be the main website and I need to look at moving it. Is it just a case of copying the files up one level? Are there any path statements I need to edit or config files I need to delve into? Can you suggest any gotchas or things to look out for? TIA
Mike Kranzler
Hi desquinn, All you should need to do is move the files up one level, and then use that as the new directory for the site, e.g. www.mysite.com/admin rather than www.mysite.com/shop/admin I hope this helps. -Mike

Mike Kranzler
On this same topic: Can I move files from one folder to another folder on the same level? Bill Yes, although be careful doing this. You don't want to move files where they will not be called properly, but you can move them just like you would on your own system. -Mike
rhinocad
Hi Mike, I tried that but the result was not as expected. I don't think I explained things well enough. I have a folder called prestashop. In it are all my store files. I tried creating another folder called rhinocadstore at the same level as the prestashop folder and copied the files. When I call the store from this new folder it still puts the path /prestashop on the address line. What I was hoping for, was it to change to /rhinocadstore in the address bar. I want to do this for SEO reasons. Thanks Bill

rhinocad
Hi Mike, Tried that but the browser still looks for the old folder name and returns a 'can't find error' What's more, it becomes impossible to logon to the back office. Thanks Bill
Mike Kranzler
Hi Bill, Normally, there shouldn't be this sort of issue with what you originally set out to do. However, since you are now having issues with this, please try following all the steps in our Moving PrestaShop guide to get this working properly. I hope this helps. -Mike
