Password Changes

I am a Newbie to Prestashop and was wondering if some one could explain the following:

 

This weekend, I went to my Hosting provider and changed to Presta database password to a new password. I then tried to log into Prestahop and got the following message:

"Link to database cannot be established"

 

Someone mentioned that for changing the DB password, I should of first changed the new password on PRESTASHOP ADMIN. Secondly, I should change the DB password for my Hosting provider. They also indicated that passwords are not automatically synced with the Database Server but if I use the above manual method, I should be good.

 

Can someone explain to me how this process works? I Can or should I have two passwords and if so, why did the link break?

If you change the password for your database user that you use with your PrestaShop installation, just make sure to update your /config/settings.inc.php file with the new user and you should be all good.
