Help with update from 1.4.2.5 to 1.4.7

Hi, i am updating from version PrestaShop™ 1.4.2.5 to 1.4.7.

I followed all the steps from the guide, i only didnt add the upload, download and class folders from the previous insallation to the new one. Once installed the shop gave a success message, version is 1.4.7.

 

Problem is, the products are shown in the back end. But in the front end all i can see is the header and footer. Once i imported the old database into the new install, everything worked well again. Is this maybe a fix for the problem? What could have gone wrong?
