USPS Module not connecting to USPS Webservice

I installed the USPS module, put in my user ID from USPS and all the other information on the configuration tab. When I click the configure button i get the following message. A friend of mine has been getting this same message for over a month.

 

I have version 1.4.6.2 installed and using the USPS module included in the original install.

 

Error message: Prestashop could not connect to USPS webservices :

USPS Webservice seems to be down, please wait a few minutes and try again.

 

Does anyone have any ideas?

You probably should upgrade your USPS module.

Thanks for the reply, I sincerely appreciate the help. If you would, just one more little bit of info. Where can I download the updated version of the USPS Module?

Hi there again,

 

You can download the latest version 1.4.7.0 and just copy the folder in modules/uspscarrier to your folder. First you should uninstall your version and delete the module (do a backup just in case). Then copy the new version folder to modules folder. Go into BO and install the module USPS from there. Configure it with your details. It should resolve your issue!

I have updated to the latest version and I still have the same problem. Anyone have any ideas??
