applecart_girl
Hi all The position of my categories in back office are not the same as in the front office. I have tried making changes with 'Force Compile' ON and 'Cache' OFF with no luck. I have cleared the cache and tried again with no luck. Can anyone help with this?? Something must be wrong somewhere ... as it worked just fine in V1.3 when I put numbers in the front, but that doesn't work anymore either (the numbers display in the FO). Hope someone can help :-)
applecart_girl
I've recently upgraded to Prestashop V1.4.7.0 if tis helps :-)
applecart_girl
I'm also finding that the Categories listed in the FO are listed 'alphabetically'. Does anyone know which file I need to look at to change the Category settings??
tdr170
Under preferences/ products you will find an area named Default order by: use the drop down list and choose the option of your choice. (Is probably set to Product Name) I hope this helps.
applecart_girl
Thanks tdr170, but it's not set to 'Product Name' it's set to 'Position inside Category' .... and this is for the products only (which are listed ok). It's the 'Category' list that is not in the correct order. I'm thinking there must be something not linked properly in the module/back office files somewhere. Admin, anyone - can you offer a suggestion of which file I might need to look at to correct this??
tdr170
OOPs you are right, look in modules/ front office features/ Categories Block there is a check box here to sort by name or position ascending or descending.
applecart_girl
Thanks tdr170 ... but hmmm, I don't seem to have the Categories Block listed there. I did find it listed in 'Other Modules' though: Categories block v1.0 Adds a block featuring product categories But these are the only options I have:
tdr170
Are you using the standard theme or an add on theme, here is what my Block Categories looks like. If using standard theme your module seems to have an issue I could send you mine.
applecart_girl
I'm not sure what theme I'm using really. I bought a new template then had a developer make changes to it. The Category list was working fine before, but since I've upgraded to V1.4.7.0 it doesn't seem to be responding. Would you mind sending me yours?? That would be great! Do you know if I should install it in addition to the one of have already ... do you think it will mess things up?? Thanks so much :-)
tdr170
Give me a link to your store and let me see your FO first, I can use my developer tool and maybe find a solution. Also upgrades don't work properly on custom themes so let me see your shop to take a look at what theme you have.

applecart_girl
Sorry sc_at - in the end I had my own web developer look into it. You could try www.freelancer.com if you don't already have one.
