What Should The File Permissions Be?

Recommended Posts

I've just transferred my prestashop from one host to another.

It looks like the file permissions are now all set the same.

What should the file permissions be? At the moment I think they are pretty much set at 777 so I need to sort this out soon!

Thanks,

:)

Easy way to make sure is to install prestashop to a diff folder and just compare your permissions. Otherwise I have not found a documentation that has all the permission settings.

I had to this for getting original tables and its info from the database that I deleted.

Thanks for the replys!

I had already been to that link but it only says that a couple of the folders should be set to 777 but it does not say what the other files and folders should be set at - as I have said, at the moment all my files and folders are set to 777 so that doesnt help me :(

The proper permissions are listed here - http://www.prestashop.com/wiki/Installing_And_Updating_PrestaShop_Software/#Install_PrestaShop

Try uploading the prestashop .zip archive and extracting on the server. When extracting, the proper permissions should be set.

It seems I made mistake because I applied write permissions recursively to all recommended folders and files. I guess I need to correct them.

Is this way correct or not:

1) Apply 755 to all folders and files.
2) Apply 777 to folders as described in installation guide.

Kamal.

Many thanks,

I feel myself more confident. And small think from my wish-list...

If some one from great Prestateam will start new topic like "Postinstall security tips & tricks" in the "Installation, configuration & upgrade" tread, I guess it will be useful for all of PS users.

It is very important to save sales and customer's data confidential, as well as to keep i-shop running and defended.

BR,
Kamal.
