DrGren
Hello All! When I try to open the translation tab for modules I only get a nasty 500 error. The other translation tabs work fine, but not the modules tab. I have not added any module, nor have I touched the existing ones. Anybody else encountered the same problem? Henrik PS version 1.4.6.
Mike Kranzler
Hi Henrik, A 500 error usually has to do with your hosting server, not PrestaShop's software. Could you please post a screenshot of the error you've encountered? -Mike
DrGren
Hello Mike! Thanks a lot for your time. The screenshot in attach. Henrik
Mike Kranzler
Hi Henrik, This can potentially be a permissions issue. Can you please try following the directions here and let me know if that resolves it for you? -Mike
DrGren
Hi Henrik, This can potentially be a permissions issue. Can you please try following the directions here and let me know if that resolves it for you? -Mike Tried it. No change. Everything is now 755. In the case of the guy at the link you provided he seems to have a problem with the translations in general. In my case it is only for the modules translations. Weird. Mike Kranzler
Hi DrGren, In your config/config.inc.php file, can you please set "display errors" to "on" and then reload the page and let me what (if any) error message(s) you see? -Mike
DrGren
Still the same 500 error. I confirm that the "display errors" work since I got debug information on another page at a moment while the db was unavailabe. I have another site running on the same server but on version 1.4.4. That one works. On the other hand, I downloaded and tested v 1.5.0.5on the same server. Doesn't work (internal server error). It seems I am the only one experiencing this problem since nobody else reported it.

Mike Kranzler
As I had mentioned earlier, it sounds to me like this could be a hosting issue. I've never heard of this hosting provider, so I can't give you any suggestions specific to them. Can you please give them a call and ask if there's anything they can do to fix this for you? -Mike
DrGren
Thank you again, Mike. I will talk to them. However, since version 1.4.4 does work and 1.4.6.2 and above doesn't... Don't know. Tomorrow I will test 1.4.6.2 with another provider (where I have a third site working on version 1.4.4) and see what happens. The worst thing that can happen is that I have to hardcode or do some phpadmin work on those few modules that I'd like to modify. All the best Henrik
contractor
Hello, I'm running PS 1.4.1.0 and I have de same issue ! I did everything recommended in this topic but without succes . Did you solved that problem ?
DrGren
@contractor, No unfortunately not. I went and edited the xml-files directly. In my case I only had to touch one module (wishlists) and one language (italian) so there was no use investigating further. On the same server I have other ps-installations where everything works. There are two differences between those installations and the "criminal" one: - Here I have 7000 products while in the other I have less than 20. - Here I installed some extra modules, for instance export orders, top horizontal menu etc. The reasons must be one of those. I have no other explanation. Best Regards
tomerg3
How much memory (RAM) do you have on your server? Error 500 is usually caused by incorrect permissions, or out of memory erorrs. You can also check the error log in your cpanel (try to go to the translation page again so the error will show up in the log).
contractor
Hi Tomerg, I'm using a VPS server with 1Gb RAM and the error log which appear in Cpanel when I try to update translations is : File does not exist: /home/construc/public_html/500.shtml, referer: http://construct-online.ro/adm123/index.php?tab=AdminTranslations&lang=ro&type=modules&token=16ca402bc7adf05aa83d52806bf76623 Permissions for folders are set to 755 and 644 for files . Do you have any suggestions ? Alin
tomerg3
Nothing else comes to mind, that error is not very helpful, are you sure that is the only error showing in the log? Are you able to enter other pages? Can you post a link to a phpinfo() file on that server?
contractor
Hi Tomerg, Here is my php info : http://www.construct-online.ro/info.php Yes , I can create other pages but when I try to add another module, receive the same internal server error 500 shtml . tomerg3
Hmm, I'm not sure what else it could be, are you sure that /modules/ is 755 with the correct owner/group including all the subfolders?
contractor
Hi, Folders are set to 755 and the files are set to 644 . I try to set all ( folders and files ) to 755, but the same results ! Alin
contractor
And for today we have in error_log a lot of errors like [22-Mar-2012 18:56:45] PHP Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 17563648) (tried to allocate 1966080 bytes) in /home/..../public_html/tools/smarty/compile/f27dc4e1b698e029aabf7f79ae07dbedfc9836c6.file.product.tpl.php on line 757 . tomerg3
it looks like only 16MB of ram is available there. Do you have any additional php.ini files?
contractor
Hi, From what I know, the answer is NO I don't have a adittional php.ini . But I don't have access to php.ini . I noticed that value of "magic_quotes_gpc" is set to ON not to OFF . Could this cause my problems ?
tomerg3
No, it has nothing to do with it. If that out of memory error is from your machine, then your host may have a hard coded limit of 16MB ram on your server, check it with them. You can also try to copy your site to your local machine (you can use WAMP) and see if you have the same issue.

Joonsen
Hi there, I have the same problem. Everytime I try to translate a module in the backend I get a 500 server error. Translations for frontend and all the others work. Did you solve the problem?
tomerg3
Check the main error log (should be available in your cpanel). It is likely a permissions issue in your /modules folder, but the log should have the exact reason.
