Editing footer

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to edit the footer on my website I'm using the Matrice template 1.4.

In my footer I have some links, "powdered by Prestashop", payment methods & a currency changer.

I want to drop everything apart from the links but when I edit the Blockcms file manually nothing changes on the website.

I've also tried changing the footer via Prestashop, unticking the "Display powdered by prestashop" box does nothing and unticking the "Display the footer's various links" removes everything in the footer apart from the currency changer.

Also tried refreshing cache & force compile option.

What to try next?

After setting Cache: No and Force compile: Yes in the back office, have you tried deleting all the files in your /tools/smarty/cache/ and /tools/smarty/compile/ folders?

This will make certain that the cached files aren't being used.

Also, where are you editing the module? Is there a chance that the module has been overridden by the theme?

If you're editing /modules/blockcms/, try looking at /themes/themename/modules/blockcms to see if the theme has its own custom version of the module its using instead. If so this is the one you'll need to edit.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me.

I've just tried deleting all the files in the tools>smarty>compile folder & it deleted some parts of the website but didn't change the footer.

I changed both 'blockcms' files in the prestashop files and the Matrice files to the same, still nothing!

Hmm, odd!

Did you clear the /tools/smarty/cache folder too as well as the compile? Could it be your browser cache? Does the same appear in a different browser?

Could you clear your browser cache just to make sure its not saved on your computer?

If there's a 'blockcms' folder in the matrice module files this is the one your theme will use. Is it definitely the blockcms that needs editing? Its not something from your footer.tpl for instance?

I had the same issue (different theme) but this did the trick for me. Thanks!

Editing any page.

Hi I was wondering how do I go about editing most of my pages. I know I can edit by cms ut that's only about us, legal and so on. For instance I want to edit the stores page I have. Hanged the image but want to change the text under the image.

There must be a way where you can edit every page but not sure how.

Thanks

It depends on the page you're looking to edit.

For the stores, go to Tools > Stores in your back office and you'll be able to add/edit all the stores you like including adding new images and text.

Some pages can't be edited in the back office like this though and will require you to edit the theme files in /themes/themename/. But this really depends on what you want to do on a case by case basis.

I tried to edit that folder in my Matrice theme, but I saw that it says not to..

I haven't used the Matrice theme myself, but I'm sure you can edit it. I'll bet the theme author doesn't want the footer text removing providing a link back to their website, which is fair since its a very good theme for free.

There should be no reason why you can't edit the footer.tpl, I'd just say to keep their link in there.
