Web Service Authentication Problem

I would like to learn the usage of the prestashop web service, but I am stacked in the first page of the tutorial I am following => http://doc.prestasho...e=1301486324000

 

The problem is that when I get the authentication dialog and I introduce the key as name and the empty password, the browser asks for it again and again.

 

Prestashop Version: 1.4.4.1

Hosting 1and1 shared hosting.

 

Apache log does not show anything weird (but I don't know what to look at):

I've been searching in the documentation and in the forum, but did not get any solution to my problem. I would really appreciate any help or hint.

Maybe I should update to the last Prestashop version, but it is a production site and It would take me long.

Finally, as I need the web service working, I decided to update to the last version of prestashop. The problem is still there.
