Aamir Iqbal
Hi Everyone,I am building an online store and I have around 300,000 products on this store and so on around 1 Million images for these products. Please take a look at it: www.mallsinmail.comThe issue is that once I explore the Category it does not show the product image. My hosting company says that this is an extra ordinary number of files in ONE perticular folder and I should split-up the imgaes in different folder in order to run the script successfully. The website is hosted onto a dedicated server with 2GB of ram, dual-core processor, and 128MB of PHP memory.Kindly advise onto what might be wrong or is there any way if i can alocate different folders for each category to store the images instead of ONE and that is: 'p'???Looking to have a quick response. Thanks in Advance. Damien Metzger
Your hosting company is totally right. It can be a small hack where you put the images in folders named from 1 to 9, corresponding to the first figure of the ID. This way you would have 100k images in each folder. It's not really complicated, but you need someone the change a few thing on your store
Aamir Iqbal
Thank you Damien for a quick response. Can you help me guiding which file should I make changes. If you can give a hint onto which file and which area needs changes, I will do that. This is very important Damien and I would highly appreciate your help.Kind Regards,
rcking
Hi,i have about 2000 products in my eshop. Now i am unable add new images. I asked my hosting provider and they tell me, that each folder (at linux servers) can have maximum 5000 files. But folder "p" have at this moment about 10k images and now am i unable to add new one. Is there any solution? I have 1.1.0.5. I thing that problem is in many version of each image (5 for each image). Maybee if every version (small, large etc) have own folder? pixemedia
You can go further by using a deeper path depth. For example if you have your image named 1234.jpg you would store it in /1/2/3/1234.jpg.We are doing that for sites where users can store data like images (ie: myimage.jpg -> /u/s/e/username/myimage.jpg).
