Is it necessary to switch new site with the old site after upgrade?

I have successfully updated my shop from 1.2.5 to 1.4.7.

 

My 1.2.5 was in the folder www.mydomain.com/prestashop and i have installed my new 1.4.7 into www.mydomain.com/site. After replacing define('__PS_BASE_URI__', '/prestashop/');with

define('__PS_BASE_URI__', '/site/'); in the config folder everything seems to work just fine. I have my categories,my cms,home page plus all images and homepage except that some modules are incompatible with 1.4.7.

 

Now my question is , If I am ok with my new shop at public_html/site why should I copy all it's folders back into public_html/prestashop? which was my directory for 1.2.5 What If I i just delete /prestashop directory Or If I just ignore it since my shop i accessing /public_html/site folder?
