Scotty501
Hi All, I am having a problem with the speed of the following site located here I have the cache options set correctly in the Perfomance section - so I know its not that - but it is incredibly slow. I have even moved it to another server and it still does the same. Sometimes it can be well over a minute before it loads up - and then speeds up once you have logged in. Any help - much appreciated. PrestaMagic
Hi Scotty, It actually loads OK for me and I am in the US. Have you installed firebug to see what else may be loading?
Scotty501
Thanks for the reply. I did check with Firebug and it seems OK - ish - but the timeline shows long load times for sure. I just cant work it out - espicially for such a simple site. One error leaps out - but cant see it causing a hang - really got me stumped! $("#search_query_top").autocomplete is not a function Line
Scotty501
Anyone else shed some light on this? I have a couple of people checking and all say the same thing - it takes an age to load.
sebkos
Hi, as I suppose for some reason jquery.autocomplete.js file is not loading. Check blocksearch.php in your modules if there is link to js file.
DrGren
Hello Scotty501! I get exactly the same error you get. My site is a little faster than yours, but the effect of that error is the same. The autcomplete of the search doesn't work. At least, in your case the search produces results. In my case there is no result at all. I get this error on version 1.4.4 and 1.4.6.2. Funny thing is, I developed two sites some months ago and THEY work perfectly, hosted on the same machine as this new one.
Scotty501
@DrGren - Are you using the same theme? I am wondering if its a theme issue?
Scotty501
Actually - I dont think it is a theme issue (it maybe) but I just logged into the back office and the page load time was long.... PrestaShop™ 1.4.6.2 Load time: 43.493s Updated to 1.4.7 - just as bad!
DrGren
Scotty501. I gave up and re-installed everything. New DB, fresh installation files, everything. Again! It wasn't the first time I did it. Before it always gave the same frustrating result. Now it worked. I have NO idea why. However, I have around 7000 products and the catalog backend is terribly slow. I risk time-out on any product update. It could be hosting that is crap? I have seen the same thing happen to Magento on cheap hosting. Don't know. PS. For the theming: I havent yet started the theming activity - still on the prestashop theme.
Cat7
Hi All, I am having a problem with the speed of the following site located here Hi - Did you manage to resolve the issue? Your site doesn't seem unduly slow now (given we have a rubbish BB connection....) We're in the process of upgrading from v1.4.2.5 to v1.4.7 and are having issues with the very slow load time. We're pretty sure it's not the hosting as firstly we're not with 1&1 anymore and secondly the current site is very quick to load. Any ideas on a fix would be much appreciated. Scotty501
@cat7 @DrGren Well it was actually an error by the previous server provider. They had not re-directed the DNS for the domain - so the www address was still looking at the old server. As soon as I changed it - the new server is performing perfectly well now, So not really a PS issue in the end. Edit* Server quality makes a big difference. I have moved a number of stores off shared hosting now to VPS or at least low contention servers. Shared Hosting being oversold is a big problem. If its cheap and cheerful hosting - it means lots of people will be on there! It only takes one of those sites to cause a server problems and your site will go down too. My old server had 800+ websites on there - some have as many as 1500+. Edited February 21, 2012 by Scotty501 (see edit history)
