SAM100
I have just upgrades from v1.3 to 1.4.7 (and got a new theme for this version) and I have the following issues when I click on any product like http://www.magicbypost.co.uk/en/money-magic/558-crazy-coin-funnel.html 1. I get an error message that states either 'stack overflow at line 22' or 'out of memory at line 24' 2. The catergories are not listed like they are at the home page. The theme developer has told be that I have a Javascript error. Please see attached file and that my categories block module does look different from the original PrestaShop module. I have copied my old modules directory from my previous version of prestshop that worked without issue. Does anyone know how I can resolve these issues please? Thanks
Mike Kranzler
Hi SAM, Everything looks fine on my end, I am unable to replicate this error. Can you please give me step-by-step directions on how I can replicate it so that I can try to help you resolve this? -Mike
SAM100
Hi Mike Thank you - I have tried to replicate issue 1 on another computer but cannot so hopfully this is a problem with my laptop. I do still have issue 2 - if you go into any product like http://www.magicbypost.co.uk/en/card-magic/560-appearing-card-in-bottle-teaching-dvd.html the catergories in the left column of the page are not showing. They do however show on the home page and if you review any of the catergories - just not on individual products. I have tried reloading the catergories block module but this does not solve the problem. Any help is appreciated.
Mike Kranzler
Hi SAM, On your site, block_content shows up as display: none, when it should show up as display: block. The line you'll want to look for is as follows: <ul class="tree dhtml" style="display: none; "> This appears to be an issue specific to your theme, so I cannot give you a suggestion of the exact file where you'll need to make this change. If you cannot find this yourself, I would recommend that you contact the original developer of the theme, I'm sure he can fix it for you very easily. I hope this helps. -Mike
SAM100
Thanks Mike - I cannot find it so I have dropped a quick note to the theme developer. One final issue (I hope) is that I cannot get the seach bar to show. The theme I am using already has a top menu, which is not a module, but simple HTML links and the developer has advised: As you can see from our demo, the top search bar should be there. You just need to enable it in your admin. I have gone into the top horizontal menu module but cannot get the search to activate (with box checked) unless I add top menu links in this module as well but doing that gives me two top menus. How can I add the seach function only in this module? Thanks again .
SAM100
Still having trouble with catergories showing up when I am in a product following upgrade: Theme Developer states: Issue not related to theme. Our themes only modify TWO files, header.tpl and footer.tpl.... all other files are exactly the same as the default theme (copied over) I have reloaded the default theme and still have the same problem so pressume this statement is correct. In the thread above is states: On your site, block_content shows up as display: none, when it should show up as display: block. The line you'll want to look for is as follows: <ul class="tree dhtml" style="display: none; "> I cannot find this line anywhere. Does anyone know how best I can resolve this issue? Help would really be appreciated. www.MagicbyPost.co.uk

Have you tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the module in question through your Back Office? If you've made any changes that could have created this issue, doing this should reset it for you. -Mike
SAM100
Thank again Mike - just uninstalled and reinstalled the module throught the admin pannel. I get the search bar back (as well as the duplicate top menu links), but when I delete the links the search disappears as well even though I have it checked in the module. I have left the links in place on http://www.magicbypost.co.uk/ and you can see my problem. I am also very keen to get the catergory issue sorted out asap is you have any ideas on that particular issue I would be very greatful. Willing to give anything a go. Mike Kranzler
Ahh I think I see at least part of the issue: You have two separate menu modules installed right now. If you would like to have the search bar available, please try disabling the Top Menu module (might be a slightly different name, not sure because I don't have this theme installed). Please let me know if that works for you. -Mike
SAM100
Ok thanks in version 1.3 and the previous version of the theme, I used the top menu from the theme with the search from the prestashop module and this worked well. I was hoping to do the same post upgrade because I think I will have alignment issues otherwise. I will have a play and hopefully figure it out or get a new theme worse case scenario. I am more concerned with the missing catergory issue - is there a module or folder I can delete and reinstall? Do I need to do this through my hosting control pannel? SAM100
No response from the theme developer since I raised this specific query (along with your comments) at 5pm. I have tested this on the standard prestashop theme and I get the same problem. Does that not mean I have a wider issue outside of the theme? Mike Kranzler
Can you please try calling your hosting provider and asking them to increase your php.ini memory_limit value? This often is the root cause of this sort of issue, and even if it isn't the case for this specific issue, it will increase the performance on your site as a whole. -Mike
SAM100
I will raise it with them and pick this issue up again tomorrow. Thanks for all your hope so far!
SAM100
Hello Mike My upgrade issues are ongoing and to recap from the trail above: 1. I am having problems with missing catergories in the left column when you view a product. 2. I have also found problems with the Ajax cart. The floating element doesnt work and I am getting a 'parseerror' when adding to cart without going into the product. To try and sort this out: 1. My hosting provider has attempted to address issues their end without success. 2. The theme developer came back to me about the code error suggestion and said: As I showed you earlier, there is Javascript error on your site and your block category looks different from thr original PrestaShop one. It doesn't look like the default categories block that comes with PrestaShop. My theme does not have any files that modified categories module You may look at this file: \themes\pres7a\css\modules\blockcategories\blockcategories.css There is no such code Also, in this folder: \themes\pres7a\modules\ There is no file related to the categories block. The code you show looks like it is dynamically written by Javascript, not a hardcoded code. Given these problems I decided to ask my hosting company to do a complete restore from a previous back up done prior to the upgrade. I was hoping this would be me back in the postion exactly before the upgrade (where everything was working perfectly). They have done this but this hasnt worked as well as I hoped in that: 1. I have problems with the alignment of the top menu which I didnt have before - see www.magicbypost.co.uk 2. The catergories block still doesnt show up on the left column when you click on a product. 3. Its slower and the genral look and feel is not the same when you navigate the site - see http://www.magicbypost.co.uk/6-magic-accessories Any ideas on the best and simpliest way forward? 1. I dont think I am going to get any further info from the theme developer. 2. Would I be better off asking the hosting company to restore me back to v1.4.7 and I work on the issues from there or is there something obvious (some module or setting that has changed) that is making my restored v1.3 site out of sync? Ideally I would prefer to get my v1.3 back to how it was and tackle the upgrade in the future when I have more time and expertise to hand. Really appreciate any help and I am worried about prolonged downtime.
SAM100
Sorry - quick progress update. I have cleared my browser cache (I know this is basics) and it does look like its pretty much back to normal regarding the layout which I am very happy about. Still no catergories showing under the product though. Any ideas about getting this back? I am then leaving well alone. Shall I reload the block catergories module?
