Bad Signature on Cart

I am trying to configure Google Shopping cart, v1.2 created by PrestaShop that is packaged with the software. I am using PrestaShop v1.4.7.0

 

I am getting this error 'Bad Signature on Cart'. All the help pages I can find all suggest the same thing, it is my merchant key that is incorrect. I have searched the forum for help but can't find anything related to my problem.

 

Make sure the Merchant Key in your shopping cart matches the Merchant Key given by Google Checkout. Remove extra white spaces surrounding the Merchant Key. If you have confirmed you are using the correct Merchant Key, there may be an issue with signature generation.

 

I cut + pasted my key from my google merchant account to make sure there were no errors and made sure there are no extra spaces at the start or end of the key but I still get the same error.

 

This only leaves me with the way the signature is generated is causing the error but that is something I do not know how to check or fix.

 

Has anyone experienced this problem or has any suggestions for how I can find a solution?

Can anyone offer any ideas how I can fix this or should I look for another ecommerce solution?

I tried disabling the digitaly signed cart option in the google settings and I no longer get the error.

 

Now when I place an order, the credit card gets charged, I am notified by google that the order has been made but I don't recieve any notification from my website about the order and the transaction is not logged in either the admin section or under the customer's account. The item that was ordered remains in the costomers cart as if they hadn't paid for the item. The website doesn't record any completed orders.
