Categories and product Insertion

I am in the process of setting up my shop, I am going to have categories that have up to 40 "second level" sub categories then off of these second level there can be as many as 100 next level, Only then a product shall be offered for each last level. My trouble is some of the product offered in the last level can belong to other items within the last level of another category. My question is how do I overcome duplication of product insertion, to help me overcome the fatigue of keying all this in and if a search is done on the product offered, so many appear in the search results and of course the maintaining of all these duplicated items. Now I am brand new to PS and maybe I have overlooked something obvious.
