error when selecting a feature before customization

On my site, I have a feature "accessories" that people can select wich accessories they would like to come with there item. I also have an area for customization where they type in text that they would like to appear on there item as well.

 

If you select the accessorie, then type in your customization and save it, the accessorie option gets reset to zero.

 

How can i solve this, or move the accessorie option (feature) lower on the page so that they customer is forced to select if AFTER they do there customization and hit the save button?

if you select the feature first and then add your customization and press save, the feature gets reset leaving me with no way of knowing if they think they ordered it or not.
