Migration from 1.3.1.1 to 1.4.6.2 (or to 1.4.7.0)

I would like to migrate from v1.3.1.1 to v1.4.7.0.

 

My plan was to migrate as follows :

- save the database from the admin panel of v1.3.1.1

- install v1.4.7.0

- from the admin panlel of v1.4.7.0, import the database.

 

My question is the following :

Will the importation work ?

The database importation will not work, the database structure changes between versions.

My current shop, built with v1.3.1.1 is hosted by one Provider, let's say Provider A.

 

I would like to do two things :

- migrate from v1.3.1.1 to v1.4.7.0

- leave my Provider A, to go to a better Provider, let's say Provider B

 

So, what would be the best way to do it ?

I think the best way is :

- duplicate your shop from provider A to provider B

- migrate your shop from 1.3.1.1 to 1.4.7.0 in provider B, test it

- when everything is OK on provider B, leave the provider A

Do I only need to copy and paste the files hosted by Provider A on the Provider B server ?

Yes, you have to copy the files, and you also have to copy the database.
