Prestashop for a very big brand

Recommended Posts

Hello forum members, Prestashop developers and other contributors.

First of all, excuse my English skills as it's not my first language.

I'm working for a worldwide engine brand as sales manager and our headquarters told us to setup a web store to boost our sales and minimize the phone support / phone sales traffic. I am very much interested getting involved in this myself and I already run several websites, web servers alone.

Here comes lot of problems. We have hundreds of thousands products that are currently on extranet (catalogue for branch shops). Extranet provides prices, part/serial numbers, detailed pictures for parts and so on. Extranet uses MS Access database and thousands of product prices being updated almost each month.

Is there any way to merge Prestashop with Extranets MS Access database; possibly pull the updated data from MS Access database to Prestashop?

If it's possible, is Prestashop capable of handling such a large database? Any recommendations? What would be the best way? Could you assist me please?

Hi brunswick,

First of all, thank you for considering PrestaShop! I think you'll be very happy with our software. As for your catalog, back in June, we ran a successful test for a shop with 1 million items! You can read a little more about it here.

Basically, if your server can handle it, PrestaShop can sell it.

As for MSAccess, it cannot connect directly to PrestaShop. However, if you use one of the many tools available to import MSAccess to mySQL, you can use that as a bridge to pull that database in your PrestaShop store, as long as you have the correct structure in MSAccess.

If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to let us know!

Thank you, Mike, for the fast response.

Could you be kind and show me an example of a module / add-on that handles this process?

I'm planning to setup a good quality server that will be dedicated for the webstore.
