brad
When I open my stats -> visitors online, I see that several webpages that are weird and does not contain any real stuff refers to me, some of the domains have similar names to my products. when I look at my analytics account I cant find these webpages? there are no links on them but it says referrers? Can someone explain this for me, I dont understand, should I block their Ip?
musicmaster
Some websites have their referrer listings not protected but visible for anyone. And some of the more shady SEO guys use that as yet another opportunity to dump their urls. That seems to me the most likely explanation for what you describe. But as your referrers listing is in the protected part of the backoffice that is no problem. So I wouldn't worry about that.
brad
What do you mean by dumping URLs? I'm very aware of SEO but dont know about this, the person has made 20 sites all look the same and the urls keep pointing to me? but I cant find any links on the page. Thanks for the reply
musicmaster
If someone arrives on your site on the things that you get is the "referrer". Normally that is set by the browser of the person who arrives at your computer. But just as anything else you can falsify it. So when I have site ""www.mysite.com" and I have some bot reading a page from your site while providing as the referrer "www.mysite.com" I have two benefits: you may be become curious and have a look at my site and you may have your referrers visible on the internet what would increase my SEO ranking and have other people have a look at it.
