Failed Installation?

Recommended Posts

Hi Hope someone can help,

I decided to install the latest version as a fresh install on a remote server (GoDaddy)

I have gone throigh step 1 and 2, but now can pregress no further.

I have made the missing settings.inc.php file and have given the appropriate permissions.

After pressing the green next button, i get a darkened screen with the rotating arrows for about 2 seconds then....... nothing changes.

In the documentation is states it can take a couple of minutes for a slower server (as am installing the full pack inc the 100 or so modules)

but after 30 minutes still nothing happened....

HHEELLPP please???

Hi Gregg,

Just to confirm, are you getting the "Your configuration is valid, click next to continue!" message in step 2 before your installation stalls?

Hi Mike,

since yesterday, i've pulled the original files (incase something was corrupt and uploaded a new copy,

on installation i found the same problem :(

I eventually found filezilla wasn't altering the file privelidges so had to do that from my hosting company.....

so far so good and the install finished...

not though when i view the new shop i only get a blank screen!

do you want the new settings sent via PM?

Hi Mike,

I think my problems are all related to the permissions....

Do you have a list of what files should have what permissions to make the program work, for example, i currently can't upload a new logo for the shop, invoices etc i get a 500 message, i assume it's because i can't write to the directory even though permissions are write and read...

The best place to start is usually 655, but just make sure you are adding the permissions to each folder recursively.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for that Mike, but having to use Godaddy's FTP UI (don't know if you are familiar with it) but it's simple Write or Read ticks, not groups of user, public etc...

I can send you user login details if you want a look??

Have you tried using an external FTP like Filezilla? You should be able to use that with GoDaddy.

tried that before (used it to upload prestashop to server) but has errors when trying to change priveledges so resorted to godaddy's FTP

What sort of errors were you getting? Having used Filezilla to upload and manage through GoDaddy in the past, hopefully I can give you some advice on how to get past it.
